Easy Pumpkin Cupcakes

1 pkg Spice cake mix
1 15 oz can pumpkin
3 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup water

Mix all that together, pour into cupcake tins, bake at 350 for 18-23 mins

Frost with cream cheese frosting

WE MET JOHNNY TRIGG!!!

The only cooking shows B will watch with me are BBQ shows, and even now that BBQ Pitmasters (which Johnny Trigg won last week) has changed it's format to be a competitive show, he won't watch that.  But we've learned some about BBQ and BBQers from the shows we've watched.  One of the things we learned about was Smokin' in Mesquite, a BBQ competition in Mesquite, NV.  So B and I were excited to be able to take the boys to that this weekend.

Well I LOVE Johnny Trigg (I'll paste a picture, but it's not one I took, I'll explain).

So we get to our hotel in Mesquite yesterday, and we need to kill some time before we can check in, so we head across the street to the BBQ festivities.  Well it wasn't as big as we thought it would be, but it smelled GOOD!!!  So we met up with a buddy of B's and hung out some in the pavillion.  Then we find out the competitiors are behind the building and JOHNNY TRIGG WAS ONE OF THEM!!!  So we take the boys out back, and there is Johnny Trigg, walking with his little pot holder thing he carries his judging food in, and he's RIGHT THERE!!!  Now, fame doesn't get to me, but I got a little excited, and B just doesn't think of celebrity, so he's like...  Well, let me script it out for you.

B: JOHNNY TRIGG!!!

Johnny stops and turns and walks up to us.

B: We watch all your shows.

JT: Which ones?  (Giving us the stink eye a bit.)

(Oh, goodness, B couldn't tell you which channel we watch the shows on.)

B: All of them.

JT: Which ones.

B: Food Network.

Shana: *cough* TLC, TLC, not Food Network.

JT: You better not say Food Network.

B: Where's Myron (Mixon, another BBQ guy)?  I want to punch him in the face.

JT: Sheesh, Myron don't cook no more.

Shana: He just judges, huh?

JT: Yeah.

So he shakes B'sand my hand, and Ivan even shakes his hand, then I told him Ro just had his first taste of brisket, he asked Ro what he thought, and Ro smiled and waved.  By that point, I was like, I cannot ask for a picture.  That would be strange.  B mentioned Food Network.

But I got a picture of his BBQ!!!

So this morning B is checking out, and I'm standing there with the stroller, AND THERE'S JOHNNY TRIGG WALKING THROUGH OUR HOTEL!!!  I looked at B with eyes WWWIIIDDDEEE!!!  My heart was racing, B asked if I wanted a picture, and I said no.

BUT IT WAS SO EXCITING!!!

Top Chef Sadness

So it's getting to the end of Top Chef's latest season, and it's now truly the cream of the crop.  But Tiffany going home before Angelo or Kevin, are you kidding me?  How lame is that!  Ed and Tiffany were my chosen winners, and now Ed is the only one left.  Oh well.

Dinner Tonight

Sometimes I feel like I'm in an episode of Chopped, where I never know what I'm going to get.  B does most of the grocery shopping, and for me, this is fun.  So tonight I made balsamic mandarin steak.  YUMMY!!!

How about some Food Eye Candy!!!
